Library

The Library is located in Duke’s building in the centre of the School.  The pupils have access to more than 12.000 resources, including books, DVDs, audio books, music, periodicals and newspapers.

Sixth formers may use the Library for their Private Study periods and it is kept as a quiet place where everybody respects the right of others to work undisturbed.
Teachers can bring classes to the Library during lesson time, and during break, lunch and after school many pupils choose to do their homework here or sit quietly and read a book.

Library offers an exciting range of fiction for all age groups as well as a big collection of non-fiction aimed to support the curriculum.

The Library is open from 8.30am to 5pm, and staffed by qualified and dedicated librarians Mrs James (senior librarian) and Mrs Deakin (assistant librarian).

The Library issued 5271 books in total in 2013/14, average 17 books per day (14 books per day in 2012/13 with a total of 4513)

This is about 10 books per pupil and interestingly, the issue of non-fiction is increasing to 34% of the total number of issues, compared to 22%  during the previous year. This is very encouraging in view of increased use of the Internet.
