Prep Years

"Teachers demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, and specialist teaching in some subjects, particularly in years 5 and 6, enables pupils to achieve high levels of knowledge, understanding and skill. Use of time is excellent and lessons are carefully structured and executed at a suitably brisk pace, ensuring that pupils remain engaged and inspired." (ISI Report, 2014)

Our Prep Years provide the ideal transition to the Senior School.

While class teachers continue to keep a very close eye on all their children, providing the support and care that characterise our School, children begin to follow a senior school style timetable. The majority of lessons are taught by Prep and Senior School subject specialists, with children spending approximately a third of the day with their class teachers.

Children grow in independence and confidence. They are inspired to learn Science in fully fitted laboratories and Design Technology in specialist workshops, and gain confidence as they move freely around the site. Residential visits at home and abroad, representing the School in sports fixtures and playing lead roles in drama and music performances give our children the experience of being part of a team, being challenged and being fulfilled. Children in the Prep Years enjoy being the leaders of the School, all leading by example and many as Prefects and Monitors.
