It has been another strong year for Wellington School pupils as the GCSE results are released today. Nearly three quarters of GCSE grades at Wellington School scored A*-B this year with 43% at A*-A.

It has been another strong year for A level pupils at Wellington School with 40% of grades at A*-A – well above the national average – and 72% of grades in the A*-B range. With almost a third of the grades at AS level recording the top A grade, Wellington pupils are well placed for further success next year.

Wellington School pupils are to be congratulated for their excellent performance in this year’s GCSE examinations. 29 year 11 pupils, nearly a third of the year group gained 8 or more A*s and As with 49% of marks gaining A* or A, almost 28% above the national average. Set against a national background of falling grades, Wellington students’ performance across all measures show an improvement this year on last.

Wellington School students are to be congratulated after gaining outstanding A level results. For the second year in a row, 19% of grades were awarded the elusive A* grade, comparable with the most academic schools in the country. 

Daisy Jeanes, a Year 7 pupil, has been recognised for her cricket ability by being selected to represent Somerset in the U13 Girls team this summer.

Jess Gundry of Wellington School became British Youth U18 epee Champion in Sheffield earlier this month. 

Wellington School welcomed cricketing legend Marcus Trescothick at a fund-raising dinner last week.  

There is a social group which centres around the office in the Princess Royal Sports Complex at Wellington School, which combines sports complex staff, PE teachers and post graduates. 

During the Easter holidays, we were delighted to host the English Brass Academy residential course on behalf of South West Music School. 

This season, Tom Fuller (Year 8) has captained Wellington School’s Junior 1st XV, played for Wellington Rugby Club and the East Devon squad and racked up 100 tries in a terrific season.

The dining hall was dressed to thrill yesterday with a fabulous 007-themed lunch.

Three Wellington School musicians, oboist Ella Leonard (Year 6), french horn player Timothy Kilbey and violinist Chloe Shaw (both Year 7) have won places in the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra for 2013.

Wellington School is delighted to announce the appointment of Henry Price as its next Head, replacing Martin Reader who will move to Cranleigh in September 2014 after eight years of outstanding leadership and service.

For World Book Day on March 7th, an amazing 93 pupils and staff squeezed into the library for a 10 minute read and biscuits.
