The Bronze Award at Wellington

Open to all Year 9 students as a lunchtime and after school activity, D of E is a popular option where one can acquire the skills needed for successful navigation and expedition work.  We lead up to an assessed expedition at the end of the year, using the beautiful local hills and moors as our base.  En route, we complete a practice expedition on Dartmoor and local day walks.

The Silver Award at Wellington

Open to all Year 10 students as a lunchtime and after school activity, Silver D of E is a popular option where one can acquire the skills needed for successful navigation and expedition work.  There is an assessed expedition weekend at the end of the year.

The Gold Award at Wellington

Sessions start after Christmas in the Lower Sixth and cover map reading and compass work, first aid, equipment and route planning.  A night navigation session takes place on the Quantocks in early February.  Practice expeditions for the Gold Award can take place in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Dartmoor with the final assessed expedition on the Brecon Beacons.
