WJS Holiday Reading

Please remember that these next few weeks are above all a holiday, and a very well deserved one. It is a time to enjoy aspects of life that are sometimes difficult to fit into a busy term; to see friends and family who have been busy with their own term time activities and to rest, recuperate and reflect. These life skills are as much a part of  “Learning for Life” as the many academic, creative, social, spiritual and sporting challenges that make up life at Wellington Junior School.

Outlined below are some guidelines for your child to help prepare for the next academic year. It is neither exhaustive nor compulsory. Please also enjoy the book lists that Mrs Beaupre has created for us.

To start, some general guidance:-

  • Keep reading and talking about books
  • Join your local library
  • Play games – cards, dice, board games to practice strategic thinking and numeracy
  • Stay organised, whether packing for the beach or taking water if you go out for a day trip
