Creative Cookery in Year 5

Cooking-DT-005Year 5 pupils have taken up the challenge of celebrating the life and work of Keith Floyd, world famous chef. Throughout this year, the children have looked at different and creative interpretations of favourite dishes; cookies and smoothies have already been given a new lease of life and on Thursday this week Year 5 prepared, cooked and even washed up an entire meal for 8 lucky members of staff. The menu included:

  • Royal kebab and corn fritters
  • Wellington Chicken and seasonal vegetables
  • Chocolate Mousse / Pavlova

The Wellington Chicken is a dish that Keith Floyd named after and in fact cooked in the school Home Economics Department. All the recipes were researched from a variety of his cookbooks and were a resounding success. Many thanks to Jill Bernard and Jill Holbrook from the Senior School Home Economics Department, and all the Year 5 staff who supported and organised our talented young chefs. CONGRATULATIONS!
