Mrs Dawes - our very own 'spin doctor'!

Last week Year 1 children discovered Mrs Dawes has a special skill as she brought her spinning wheel to school. She showed the children how to card and then spin the wool.  They also discovered that you can spin the wool from more than just sheep! They investigated about the wool from alpacas, angora goats and rabbits.

The children each designed their own tartan, and then went on to make up their design in felt from the wool they had spun. They have been looking at the stories of Katy Morag and talking about tartans.
