Campathon is huge success!

On 8 June, 31 families from Wellington Junior School, braved the wet and windy conditions of Exmoor to take part in the Wellington Junior School Campathon 2012. The event was held on the idyllic riverside campsite, Westermill Farm near Exford. Following a struggle in challenging conditions, tents were erected along the river bank and barbeques were lit. The children, aged between 2 and 13, played games and paddled in the river whilst parents chatted around the camp fire. The following morning the 110 campers divided into smaller groups and participated in organised walks around Tarr Steps, all ending in ice creams and light refreshments. Meanwhile, back at the campsite, a group of Dads had created a 30 foot slide on the hillside using a piece of agricultural plastic, 3 buckets of water and a bottle of washing up liquid……it was crazy!!
On Saturday night the Campathon welcomed School Governor, Dr David Lungley who played his accordion and entertained the campers with an excellent sing-along around the fire.
Campathon Organiser and Year 4 Teacher, Nigel Renyard, has already started planning for Campathon 2013!
