School Life

School Life

We have a full schedule of lessons and an exciting range of after-school clubs for all ages at Wellington Junior School.

The gates open at 8.00am and children arrive in time for registration at 8.45am. Those arriving early often play, under the supervision of the Junior School Headmaster or the Deputy, but if it is raining children go to their own classrooms, under the supervision of the class teacher.

The daily routine for each Key Stage includes an assembly in the Hall, although times vary according to the day. Assemblies may be geared to a particular age range or to the whole school. We have a variety of visitors at assembly, including the School Chaplain. Each week we have a Celebration Assembly, where our 'Stars of the Week' are awarded.

Break-time takes place in the playground before assembly for KS1 & EY and after for KS2. Nursery Break takes place when appropriate and the children are supervised as they play in the rubberised area adjacent to their room. If a larger play area is required, then the main playground is also used, either before or after the main school break.

School Lunch is taken at 11:50am by Early Years and Key Stage One pupils who then go to the playground until 1pm.

At 12.30pm Key Stage Two pupils have lunch, followed by play until lessons recommence at 1.30pm
