Learning Success

The Junior School as part of Wellington School is committed to meeting the needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs.

We are proud of the wide range of tailored support available for pupils. Currently we have tutors, all qualified and experienced teaching staff who work with individuals and small groups as appropriate for:

• literacy
• numeracy
• ‘All Stars’ ~ a programme to support those with dyspraxic tendencies
• social skills development
• speech and language development

These activities are ably coordinated by Mrs Jan Reed our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). Jan’s team includes staff who will work across the crucial transition period as the older pupils leave the Junior School and transfer to the Senior School.

Strong communication is supported at all times and regular liaison and review occurs across the whole of Wellington School. Partnership with the parents is of critical value so we organise Learning Success meetings in addition to the regular Parents’ Evenings.
