Library

Our well stocked, purpose-built library is a lively and enticing space for all the children. Children have special sessions to learn how to use the library from our Nursery classes onwards and during the older years, children are involved in writing book reviews and solving the quizzes, puzzles and challenges that adorn the walls and displays.

Mrs Beaupre, our Librarian, is available from 8:30am each morning to discuss your children’s interests and she has a wealth of knowledge about fiction and non-fiction books. She also runs our 200+ DVD library which is stocked primarily from funds raised by the Second Hand Uniform Shop. She is helped in managing the thousands of books by the Library Prefects who ensure that the Library looks as smart as possible.

Each year we celebrate World Book Day.  Recent themes have ranged from poetry to pants! Regular book sales are held to supplement the stock. This means that whether or not your child is a frequent borrower of books personally, Mrs Beaupre is able to stock classes with packs of fiction and non-fiction books to support the curriculum.

The 'finger print' recognition system means that there is a record of all the books borrowed by each child during their years at Wellington Junior School. This is always a source of entertainment as the children prepare to transfer to the Senior School!
