Students in grand opening âspectacleâ
Over 100 students are taking part in a special visual extravaganza to celebrate the re-opening of the Schoolâs Great Hall.
The production, Intimate Letters, is a fusion of acting, dance, sculpture, photography and video, with live music to be played by a professional quartet.Â
Running from Feb 8 â 11, the work is inspired by Tolstoyâs famous novel Anna Karenina, and the schoolâs art, music and theatre departments have joined forces to create a dazzling spectacle.
Special images were shot at nearby Saunton Sands in Devon by Artist in Residence, photographer Lauren Sexton. The Karenin Quartet will be performing JanĂĄÄek's Kreutzer Sonata and Intimate Letters, the music woven into the performance.
The performance is not a faithful recounting of all the novelâs twists and turns but a circus of characters and fleeting visions - of the great Russian railway, snowy Moscow streets, summers in French watering places.
Tickets are available from Wellington School on 01823 668850.Â
