Exhibition of Illustrations by Harry Brockway at the Archway Gallery
The Archway gallery, South Street Wellington is putting on an exhibition of wood engravings by the illustrator Harry Brockway. Harry studied sculpture at the Royal Academy School taught by Sarah van Niekirk and subsequently trained as a stone mason. As well as being an illustrator he has been a stone carver for twenty years, working mainly with Portland limestone and Bath stone. He has designed and engraved illustrations for many books. Most recently, he completed a series of engravings for the “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and it is this work that will form the basis of this exhibition. This work is for sale.
The exhibition is open to the public and we are encouraging new people to visit the gallery. The gallery is down the alley way opposite the main entrance to Wellington School at the top of South Street. The exhibition is well signposted.
The exhibition opens on Friday 18th November and runs until Thursday 1st December and is open Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4.30pm and is open on Saturday 19th November 9.30am until 12.00 midday and Saturday 26th November 9.30am till 12.00 midday.
Advance notice of the Christmas Exhibition: On Friday evening on the 2nd of December, 5.00 until 7.00pm the annual Christmas Open exhibition opens all are welcome. This will then run until Thursday 15th December. Following on from last years successful show a range of artists, photographers, jewellers and other craftspeople will be showing and selling their work. The public are encouraged to visit and find works from all price ranges to find that very special Christmas gift.
