Chapel Thanksgiving Service
2011 signals the 80th Anniversary of the construction of the Chapel of St Michael & St George and on 12 November there was a Service of Thanksgiving not only for the Anniversary but also the completion of highly delicate work in restoring the painted finishes to the Chapel ceiling.
The Address was given by the Very Reverend John Clarke MA BD Dean of Wells one of whose predecessors visited the School on Commemoration Day in 1931 and then commented on the boldness of the Chapel colour scheme. Hymns and Choral works were sung by 65 choristers comprising the School Choir, members of staff and OW choristers.
Later in the evening some 116 OWs and guests enjoyed a splendid dinner and dance in the Alan Rogers Centre which was also joined by most of the members of the School Rugby XV who toured Canada in 1986 as part of their 25th Anniversary reunion.
