Translunar Paradise comes to Wellington
Wellington School is looking forward to Theatre Ad Infinitum coming to the stage of Great Hall at 7.30 pm on Friday 27th January to perform “Translunar Paradise.” The company performed this new piece at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they won several top awards.
The performance was described as, “A remarkable story of love, life and loss....time is not the only boundary crossed here; surely traditional theatrical boundaries have been broken?” in the Edinburgh Festival’s “Three Weeks” publication.
“Translunar Paradise” is an entirely wordless performance telling the story of elderly bereavement through dance, mime and music. Actors George Mann and Deborah Pugh play young lovers, each equipped with a beautifully crafted mask which bears the face of an 80-year-old. These masks go on and off as the story shifts about in time, showing us the couple’s lives together. At the Edinburgh Fringe it was described as “an extraordinary performance, intricate down to the aged pair's minutely shaking hands, the varied sound effects conjured by a simple squeezebox.”
So without wanting to give too much away, come prepared with your tissues for a truly moving performance.
Director of Theatre, Ian Reade, rates George Mann as one of the strongest physical theatre performers he has seen. Come and judge for yourself!
Tickets can be obtained from Wellington School’s Box Office at £8.50 adults, £5.50 concessions from
