1 Year GCSEOne year GCSE course for international studentsThis programme allows students from outside the UK to complete GCSE courses in one year and then proceed to study A levels or the IB in the UK. Normally, GCSE courses take 2 years but by using intensive teaching and modern facilities and working with students in very small groups, Wellington School is able to prepare students for these examinations in just one year. Students study Maths, English (as a first or second language depending upon ability), combined Business Studies & Economics, Physics and Chemistry or Art.One Year GCSE students are completely integrated into the life of Wellington School providing a perfect preparation for Sixth Form study and a much broader educational experience than that offered by an International School in the UK.
The SchoolWellington School is a vibrant community characterised by high academic standards, broad extra-curricular opportunities and an exceptional friendliness. Students have the same opportunities to enjoy sport and other co-curricular activities with the UK students thus promoting cultural understanding, friendships and the development of spoken English. Each student is allocated a tutor who oversees all aspects of the student’s academic progress, co-curricular involvement and pastoral well-being and meets with the student at least once per day. Students are taught in small groups by experienced teachers who will help students to adapt quickly to different teaching and learning styles, to master the subject specific vocabulary and to develop good study skills as well as completing the syllabuses.
After Wellington SchoolMost students may remain at Wellington for their Sixth Form studies. Others will continue their studies elsewhere and Wellington School will assist students in applying to other schools by providing individual advice and support in the application process as well as liaising closely with the new school.
