Facilities

Facilities

The School has undergone an extensive building programme over the last twenty years, carefully blending new and existing architecture. Most recent developments include the John Kendall-Carpenter Science Centre with its state-of-the-art laboratories and lecture theatre, and a £2.6m sports complex opened by H.R.H The Princess Royal in September 2002, recently accepted as a training venue for the 2012 Olympics.

The Alan Rogers Centre, opened in January 2009, provides six new classrooms, a gallery and an impressive examination hall which enables all indoor activities to continue throughout the year without disruption. Work has started on major improvements to music and performing arts facilities including a new theatre space to be opened in September 2009.

The School has 4 rugby pitches, 3 tennis courts, 4 purpose-built netball courts incorporating 6 further tennis courts, a floodlit artificial turf hockey pitch and 3 grass pitches, cricket pitches and a 300m athletics track, 2 squash courts and a covered, heated swimming pool. A purpose built fencing salle and a specialist coach ensure that fencing experiences great success at inter-school, regional and national level.

The beautiful Memorial Chapel of St Michael and George with its acclaimed decoration is sited in the middle of the School and follows the Anglican Communion.
