Activities, Clubs and Societies

There is a wide range of opportunities outside the classroom, organised and run enthusiastically by members of the teaching staff.  Activities take place throughout the week and on Saturdays, offering a breadth of experience with pupils attending the clubs that interest them and those that fit into their busy schedules.

Many academic departments expand their curriculum by running clubs such as stage crew, science, technology and the varied range of musical opportunities.  Some activities are extensions of the games programme and make use of coaching expertise that may not be available in the usual games times.  Tennis, gymnastics, trampolining and fencing are examples.

Instead of lessons on Saturday mornings there is an extensive activities programme which is optional for day pupils but which boarders are expected to attend.  Saturday activities include motor mechanics, digital photography, fishing, wildlife, archaeology and cookery.

The opportunities at Wellington School are about participation, development and above all enjoyment.
