University Entrance
The school has an excellent record in assisting students to gain entry to prestigious universities including Oxford and Cambridge. Careers advice and dedicated higher education research lessons in the Lower Sixth Form (Year 12) as well as individual guidance from House Staff and Group Tutors help students to make decisions about their futures. The vast majority of students apply for a degree course although a few elect to take a Foundation Art course or a vocational training course. All students are advised individually on their final choices of course and university by the Director of Studies who also assists with the writing of personal statements. Students applying for courses requiring entrance tests, such as Medicine or Law, are suitably supported. In the Upper Sixth Year (Year 13) students make their UCAS application electronically and are given further guidance on interview techniques and on selecting offers. The Director of Studies and the Headmaster are available when the A level results are released, and afterwards, to offer any further individual advice that may be required.
