SPORT and RECREATION at WELLINGTON SCHOOL

Sport and recreation form one of the main focal points of Wellington Schools’ extra-curricular programme. There are many and varied opportunities available to pupils of all abilities, at whatever level that suits, with most major sports having at least two teams per age-group. All sport and recreative activities are supervised by volunteer staff who are expert in their field. Many have up-to-date coaching qualifications and are keen to pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm in such a way as to afford Wellington pupils the widest and best opportunity to enhance their abilities and interests.

Important sporting values such as knowledge of laws, sportsmanship, codes of conduct, respect for officials, discipline, reliance, leadership, teamwork, winning, losing and simply having fun, are all fostered within the framework of the programmes offered.

Regular competitive fixtures and recreative programmes are scheduled, which vary from term to term, where nearly 60% of each year group represent the school throughout the year.
