Home Economics

Home Economics ImageHome Economics is a fun and exciting way of looking at food, the family and the home.  The emphasis is on developing sound practical skills and at least 50% of lesson time is spent preparing and cooking food.  We study a wide range of interesting and often thought provoking topics from diet and health to environmental issues, heat transfer to consumer education, disassembly to designing new food products, sensory analysis to market research.  We also give pupils a few problems to solve as well!

Home Economics is taught in Years 6 and 7.

Lower Sixth students enjoy a short course designed to reinforce and further develop their practical skills in preparation for life away from home.
