At Wellington School there is a growing understanding of dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Students who are mildly dyslexic with above average underlying ability thrive in a supportive environment where there is a high expectation of success.

Students are taught in mainstream classes and subject teachers are advised about strategies to support individuals. Additional, specialist, individual support is organised for some pupils on a regular basis. Such support is funded by parents.

All students at Wellington are screened for dyslexia. For some, more detailed assessments take place in order to establish strengths, weaknesses and learning styles. Information gained as a result of these assessments is used to provide specific, individual support.

Dyslexic students usually achieve impressive results in their GCSEs and A Levels
and progress to read a wide range of subjects at their chosen universities.
