Pastoral Care and Tutors

Pastoral Care and Tutors

We want our boarding pupils to be able to develop their independence, whilst always providing a safety net of support and help for them. Day to day life is structured and organised, with regular meal times, prep sessions each evening, evening activities and free time, including supervised access to the gym, sports hall and astro-turf.  A Houseparent runs each of our boarding houses, and is responsible for the wellbeing of the pupils, knowing them individually, and keeping in contact with parents and guardians. The Houseparents lead excellent pastoral teams, consisting both of academic staff, and those who work specifically in boarding, who nurture and care for each and every student, focusing on their individual needs and development. An integral part of each House team is the Matron, who provides just the right level of nurturing, without stifling independence. They oversee laundry, bedtimes, kitchen activities and room tidying, and are always on hand to offer help and support.

Each boarder is also a member of one of our six co-educational day houses and therefore fully integrated into the wider pastoral and co-curricular life of the school.

All students have a designated tutor in School, who will meet with them daily and supervise, guide and mentor them throughout the year. Again, boarders are fully integrated into tutor groups alongside our day pupils.
