National Youth Theatre

The National Youth Theatre is a world leading youth arts organisation. They have nurtured the talent of hundreds of thousands of young people over the past 60 years. They inspire nurture and showcase exceptional performers and theatre technicians from Great Britain. Every year students aged 14-25 have the opportunity to audition to take part in the prestigious Summer programmes of study.

At Wellington School, for the first time this year, we hosted one of the auditions and we are very proud to report that three of our current students gained a place on this prestigious course. 

What happens in a National Youth Theatre audition? 
A National Youth Theatre audition is a full-day experience. We structure our audition days with a 3 hour ensemble workshop in the morning, followed by a 1-2-1 audition in the afternoon. This is to give you a chance to explore ensemble theatre (making theatre as a group) and how you work with fellow performers in the room.
The workshop is also a great chance to settle into the day and calm any nerves you may have before your individual audition. 
From 10am, you'll take part in a 3 hour workshop led by National Youth Theatre Associates. 
In the afternoon, from 2pm you'll have an individual audition slot to perform a monologue of your choice of up to 2 minutes.
