Safeguarding/Online Safety

At Wellington School, safeguarding underpins everything we do. We are dedicated to recognising each pupil as an individual and creating a secure, nurturing environment where they can flourish.
Safeguarding is a collective responsibility - every staff member is trained and empowered to act in the best interests of our pupils. Wellington School adheres to the guidance of the Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership, as well as national frameworks such as Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025).
Online safety is a crucial component of our safeguarding strategy. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil is protected in both the physical and digital realms. Our comprehensive approach to online safety includes educating pupils about the potential risks and empowering them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world safely.
By integrating safeguarding and online safety into our curriculum and reinforcing it through dedicated assemblies and resources, we strive to create a secure and supportive environment for all our pupils.
Together, we ensure the safety of our community.

The School is committed to ensuring all pupils have a sound awareness of the environment in which we live. Our aim is to help one another navigate the digital world, being mindful of the dangers and making the most of the positive aspects.
Students are taught an awareness of safety and welfare online across the curriculum but with a focus in PSHEE. PSHEE lessons have covered topics such as the use of social media, use of mobile phones and the dangers of online-grooming and sexting.
