Boys Lead Together In Tense, Close Match
Our 1st XI hockey boys had a great game against Marlborough College in the England Hockey Tier 2 Plate. The boys played brilliantly in a tense and close match, exhibiting some of the best hockey we’ve produced all season.
After going 1–0 up early in the game, we reached half-time 3–1 down.
But the boys rallied brilliantly in the second half.
Atticus scored a superb short corner, and we found ourselves 4–3 up with just a couple of minutes to play.
Marlborough managed an excellent equaliser in the final minute to make it 4–4, taking the match to penalty shuffles. Charlie G was outstanding in goal, saving two of Marlborough’s attempts and securing a tense but exciting win on shuffles for Wellington.
A massive thank you to Marlborough College for a fantastic game. We now look forward to our next cup match on Thursday, 5th March, at home — and all support would be hugely appreciated!
