Wellington School Parents' Book Club Launches.

In celebration of the Department for Education’s announcement of 2026 as a National Year of Reading and in support of The Sunday Times' Get Britain Reading campaign, we are delighted to launch the Wellington School Parents' Book Club.

Research consistently highlights the benefits of reading for pleasure, and one of the most powerful ways to encourage young people to read is for them to see adults doing the same. Our new book club offers the perfect opportunity for parents to come together, share a love of reading, and model the joy of books to our pupils.

The group will meet once every half term in Café 37, where parents can enjoy refreshments available to purchase while taking part in relaxed and friendly discussions.

Our first meeting will take place on Thursday 22nd January (15.45 to 16:45). To begin, we're inviting parents to vote for the book they would like to read first:

  • Intermezzo by Sally Rooney

  • You Are Here by David Nicholls

Both are award-winning novels by celebrated writers, each offering a compelling and insightful exploration of modern relationships.

We encourage all parents to get involved by casting their vote here. Voting will be available for a week and will close on Thursday 4th December.
