Lord Of The Flies Begins Sunday 8th February

Over two years ago, Nina Gold began a national search for boys to star in Lord of the Flies. As part of that journey, casting agents visited Wellington School and auditioned 23 of our students, with three later invited to Nina Gold’s London studio.

At the time this felt like an extraordinary achievement in itself. This week, Mr Brammall and Mrs Davies had the privilege of attending the premiere of the first episode of Lord of the Flies at the British Film Institute alongside Tom (Year 10) who takes on a starring role. Only last week, in conversation with the Headmaster, Tom reflected on his journey with humility and pride, speaking honestly about how lucky he feels to have had the opportunity and sitting in the cinema Mrs Davies was reminded of the early auditions in our school studio, the recalls in London and the courage it took at every stage to keep saying yes.

Following the preview there was a Q&A with Jack Thorne, Marc Munden and Joel Wilson who praised Tom for his skill! We are so immensely proud of Tom and everything that he has achieved. We can't wait to watch the whole series and share the joy of seeing one of our very own students star in such a huge BBC drama.
