Performing Arts

The Performing Arts are a vital part of every child’s education.  From the joy of performing in front of an audience to the satisfaction and self-discipline of learning an instrument, the Performing Arts provide unique opportunities for personal growth and exploration.

Music rings around the corridors of our school.  It is an experience which connects with our soul, bringing joy and fulfilment. In the Pre-Prep department, all children enjoy a weekly lesson taught by our Director of Music.  Through practical and engaging activities, they learn that music is made up of a variety of elements.  Children experience a wide variety of music from classical to folk music from all around the world. In Year 2 every child begins to learn an instrument with the introduction of whole class lessons as part of our curriculum.

Individual instrumental lessons are available from Reception and are taught by specialist music tutors.

The Drama highlights in the Pre-Prep years are the Christmas Nativities.  The Reception children take the lead in their production with the support of our Nursery children.  Our Year 2 children take the lead in their performance with enthusiastic support from Year 1.  Throughout the year there are many other opportunities for children to perform to each other, such as at our termly school concerts or other occasional events, such as our Fairtrade Tea Party.
