Sport and Wellbeing

Sport & Wellbeing

Our Sport and Wellbeing programme is unique among schools.  As well as nurturing a great enjoyment of sport and activity, children’s physical development is also carefully tracked and supported.

We consider it important that our younger children benefit from sports skills coaching from specialist staff, as well as older ones.  Through a range of different physical activities children’s core-stability, hand-eye co-ordination and strength are developed, as well as a growing sense of teamwork and fair play.

We follow the nationally recognised ‘Real PE’ programme through Years 1 and 2. Competitive team games are introduced gently into Year 2, with occasional sporting fixtures and inclusive sports events. The children enjoy playing at festivals, where teams are mixed by the school and ability, allowing children to experience new sports and make new friends in a nurturing environment.

Our unique offer includes our Ten Gems programme, which is based on the innovative and highly successful Australian ‘Learn to Move’ project, Balanceability, which is delivered by our own qualified Balanceability coaches and a swimming programme using our school pool.

The Prep School has full access to outstanding facilities, including the Princess Royal Sports Complex, the astro-turf, the playing fields, hard courts and the swimming pool.
