Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy
At Wellington the Christian values of love, service and care are paramount. We want each child to understand his or her ability to make a difference, as well as their responsibilities.
Each week our School Chaplain leads an assembly in the Prep School, providing a clear spiritual and moral focus. We also are privileged to make great use of our superb school chapel, the Chapel of St Michael and St George. The chapel is the focal point for our Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Commemoration services, which are fundamentally important aspects of Prep School life.
Our assemblies focus on strong moral themes each week, which are developed across our School. Common themes are revisited, such as dealing with changes, anti-bullying and our wider responsibilities as individuals.
The Chaplaincy exists to assist all members of school in their search for meaning and purpose in life. Whilst the Chaplaincy is Christian and based on the practice of the Church of England, the Chaplain aims to put all students in touch with their spirituality, however expressed.
Pastoral services
Chaplaincy is not just embedded within the tradition of our school for the purpose of worship, however. The chaplain is also available to provide a pastoral service to pupils, staff and parents, who have a need to talk and to be listened to. The chaplain is available to listen to all on an individual basis and also to provide a quiet space for those members of our school community who need time to reflect.
The door is always open for those who need space, an ear, or simply a cup of tea and a chat.
Our Chaplain, Charlotte, joined Wellington in September 2022, coming from eight years working as a secondary school English teacher. Charlotte is passionate about working with young people, providing outstanding pastoral care, and sharing the Christian faith in a relevant way. She embraces the fantastic diversity of the Wellington community, leading acts of worship for students of all faiths and none; and strives to make all feel welcome and loved.
Charlotte lives locally with her husband (who is curate of a local parish church) her young son, and her cat. A fan of all things literary, in her spare time she enjoys reading anything and everything, as well as spending time with family and friends, walking in the countryside, and cooking.
She looks forward to meeting you.
