Welcome To Nursery (Age 3 And 4 Years)

Our Nursery with Forest School is an integral part of Wellington School and this is where the excitement begins.

Kate Williams is our passionate lead practitioner dedicated to creating a high-quality, inclusive and nurturing earning environment where every child thrives. She has an NVQ Level 3 qualification and is currently on her own learning journey working towards a degree in Early Childhood Studies. She enjoys long dog walks and at the weekends, you will find her at a National Trust property with her family.

We provide the highest standards of early years education for three and four year olds, making the most of our excellent facilities. A rich variety of learning environments such as our woodland site for embracing nature at Forest School and our Sports Complex for providing the space to gain the basics of riding a bike sees our youngest pupils grow into happy , confident, independent individuals with an enduring love for learning.

Our team is led by experienced specialist early years' teachers and lead practitioners.

‘Tell me and I forget; Teach me and I may remember; involve me and I learn.’

Learning For Life Enrichment Programme

At Wellington School we are fortunate to have a superb range of facilities and staff.  As a result, we are able to offer an exceptional and unique package of educational enrichment opportunities to our nursery children; our ‘Learning for Life’ enrichment programme.

For those families using the Early Years funding, this programme carries a small additional fee as the services offered are above and beyond most other settings.  All families choosing Wellington Nursery School are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the educational and development value from these additional services.

Further information on the cost of the ‘Learning for Life’ programme is available in the Nursery Fees and Charges document here.

GUIDED PLAY

Through a mix of different approaches to helping children learn in our Early Years.

Children learn…

•    through play
•    by adults modelling
•    through guided learning
•    direct teaching

Sometimes the staff in the Early Years join in with the child’s play, sensitively, to support and extend the learning. We call this learning in the ‘moment’ or guided play.

LEARNING SKILLS

Play is serious learning for a young child, it is the vehicle they use to develop the skills they need to become effective learners. That it is why it is called the Foundation Stage.

The skills we aim to nurture are…

•    language and communication skills
•    regulation of emotions
•    the ability to be independent
•    to be creative and pursue their own ideas
•    to be resilient in the face of adversity.

Above all, for the children in our care to be kind, considerate, inclusive members of the community.
