The Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to ensure that students are able to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to thrive in the 21st Century.

In a world that is shifting rapidly, we aim to empower our students to create the future, not just be prepared for it. In order to achieve this, we have developed four principles for the future of education; Embrace complexity, Spark connections, Lead together and Act today.

Year 7 And 8 (Lower School)

Pupils coming into Year 7 embark upon a rich curriculum with a wide range of subjects. In addition to the traditional subjects of English, Mathematics, Sciences, History, Geography and RS, all pupils study French, and Spanish at Year 7. At Year 8 pupils can take up German. All pupils will also study Music, Art, Drama, Design & Technology and Sport and Wellbeing, as well as PSHEE.

All pupils are taught in a class of around 20 pupils, in which they study all their subjects, with the exception of English, Mathematics and Languages, for which they are set.

All pupils have examinations in every subject in the summer term.

Years 9 To 11 (Upper School)

We offer a wide range of subjects at Year 9 and follow the more rigorous IGCSE syllabus in English, Mathematics, Sciences and Languages.  We focus on stronger academic subjects and incorporate Latin or Classics, Music, Art, Drama, Design & Technology and PE into the timetable as well as PSHEE. During Year 9, decisions are made about GCSE choices. Extensive guidance and counselling is offered to all pupils and parents to ensure the best choices are made for each individual pupil.  Staff in all departments are involved with this as each case will be different. Options include Latin and Greek as well as facilitating academic subjects, Music, Art, Drama and Design & Technology.

Throughout Year 9, all pupils are taught in a class of around 20 pupils, in which they study all their subjects, with the exception of Mathematics and Languages, for which they are set.

In Year 10, pupils move to their GCSE classes and each subject is taught individually.
