Reports & Grades

Reports and Grades

Two full written reports are provided for each student over the course of the academic year, with the exception of pupils in Years 11 and Upper Sixth.

The schedule by year group for these reports is provided in the school calendar. In addition to full reports, students also receive attainment grades on a termly basis and effort grades are awarded every half term.

Effort Grades

The school operates a system of effort grades which allows us to monitor each student’s approach to their learning. Students are graded using a system of + (exceeding expectations), = (meeting expectations) or (failing to meet expectations). These grades are awarded on a half termly basis in two categories, of classwork and homework. When a student in Year 7 - 11 is awarded a minus they will also be set a target for improvement. Students in the Sixth Form will receive an additional comment regardless of the grade awarded. The descriptors for the grades are provided below. However, please note that this is not intended as an exhaustive list, but rather as a set of more general guidelines.
