Co-curricular Activities
The Sixth Formers enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities including Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme and an extensive range of Sixth Form specific trips and expeditions.
Outdoor Education Trips
Our dynamic Outdoor Education Department runs climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, caving and sailing trips. Sixth Formers enjoy the popular Winter Mountaineering trip and recently the Summer Scottish Dozen Munroe walking trip.
Academic Trips
Academic departments run a wide variety of educational trips. Examples include A Level Geography trips to Morocco, A Level Biology trips to Slapton and A Level Physics trips to the Diamond Light facility. The return of trips further afield is welcomed with previous examples including Operation Wallacea trip to Borneo.
CCF
Sixth Formers have the option to join the CCF, in the Army, Navy and Air Force sections which offer opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills and qualifications, self-reliance and to learn team-building and responsibility in a challenging environment. All have hands-on practical experience in sections, including flying helicopters, shooting ranges, extensive boating and expeditions and a termly overnight exercise.
Duke of Edinburgh
Many Sixth Form students complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards with some going on to achieve their Gold Award before they leave Wellington.
Music
There is a vibrant Music Department, with a huge range of bands, orchestras, choirs and ensembles, including the superb Chapel Choir, offering many opportunities to perform and develop. In addition Music A Level and Music Technology A Level are part of the curriculum offering.
Drama
Sixth Form enjoy superb opportunities in Drama leading to some pursuing it as a career. Recent Sixth Form destinations include the prestigious LAMDA in London and the National Youth Theatre.
Sport and Wellbeing
Sixth Form benefit from the wide range of team and individual Sports available at Wellington from hockey, rugby, football, tennis, swimming, basketball and badminton as well as fencing, laser shooting, and climbing. Options for well-being include yoga and well being walks in the Sixth Form sport and well-being options.
