For our more able and committed athletes, we have a more intense coaching programme which caters for those with additional needs and aspirations.
Targeted Athlete Pathway (TAP)
The TAP programme is offered to promising individuals across a range of sports. They will have the opportunity to develop their physical and psychological aspects in order to improve performance and become robust athletes able to make decisions.
There are 3 tiers;
Potential Athlete Programme (PAP),
Enhanced Athlete Programme (EDP)
Advanced Athlete Programme (ADP).
PAP and EDP work in groups based on their stage of maturation so that the right stimulus is provided at the right time.
In the later stages of the programme, athletes progress to individual work on the ADP with the focus on physical, tactical and technical aspects of their sport. This is often done by taking into account force-velocity profile, utilising tests and monitoring all aspects of wellbeing such as sleep, academic stress and training volumes. This allows for decisions to be made with the athlete at the centre.
Elite Cricket Programme
Wellington School Cricket specific programme offers an opportunity for all aspiring cricketers to improve technically, mentally, physically and tactically. In a world-class facility, all aspects of the game are covered.
With the essential input of Somerset CCC Head Women's coach Paul Lawrence and former Test cricketer Caroline Foster (Atkins) and the support of our batting specialist ex Somerset CCC player and coach Julian Wyatt, the programme covers bowling, batting, fielding, strength and conditioning, psychology, nutritional advice and helps all players build a growth mind-set.
