Wellington’s excellent results reflect our commitment to ensuring that every student fulfils their academic potential.

A Level Results

Average attainment at A level for the past 5 years is consistently well above the national average at all grade points, and in 2023 and 2025 close to a third of all grades were A* or A, whilst in 2024 this figure was an impressive 40%. In 2025 this included 71% A*-B for the Extended Project Qualification. Over the past three years on average almost two thirds of all grades have been awarded A*-B. In 2025 the figure was 80% or above for subjects including History, French, Chinese, Psychology, RS and Drama. In 2024 100% of the grades were awarded A*-B in Mathematics, Spanish, Music and Music Technology, Latin and German.

Students also consistently achieve outstanding results in BTEC Sport. In 2025 86% of the cohort achieved at least one distinction grade and in 2024 more than 50% of the cohort achieved one or more of the very top D* grades.

However, it is our outstanding value-added data that perhaps best reflects how a Wellington Education enables pupils to excel across a diverse range of subjects. In 2025 this put Wellington in the top 7% of all schools nationally, whilst in the national league tables published for A level performance in 2024 Wellington was given a progress score of 0.48. This puts the school into the top ‘well above average’ band for progress, meaning that Wellington is in the top 5% of schools and colleges in the country.

Wellington is committed to ensuring that each individual student finds the best possible pathway for them. In both 2024 and 2025 100% of students were offered places at their firm or insurance university. In 2025 and for the second year in a row all Medicine and Vet applicants were offered places and achieved the top A*/A grades in all subjects to secure their place in these competitive courses. The destinations of our students are wide ranging with success securing their chosen courses in Law, medicine, veterinary and allied health care professions such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, optometry and sports and exercise science. Our thriving STEM students have places in engineering, biomedical sciences, neuroscience, psychology, mathematics and in the Performing Arts students have places at RADA and Point Blank Music School.
